Autographed Chuck Bednarik Photo

In the fall of 1960, when the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles were bitter rivals, they played a legendary game at Yankee Stadium.  Two players who would become future Hall of Famers played in that game, Chuck Bednarik and Frank Gifford. It was their interaction that made that game memorable 52 years later.

The Giants were a half game out of first, behind the Eagles, and needed a big win to stay in the hunt. It was a brutal game, the kind of game that was the typical, old school fistfight that the NFL used to be. The Giants were ahead by ten at halftime but lost that lead during the third quarter. As the struggle moved late into the fourth quarter, Jimmy Carr caught a fumble in the air and returned it 36 yards for a touchdown, putting the Eagles ahead 17-10.

Back came the Giants with a sustained drive. Backup quarterback George Shaw hit running back Gifford on the fly across the middle, 15 yards down field. Bednarik was there to meet him. He slammed into Gifford’s ribs driving him to the turf. The force of Gifford’s head contacting the ground knocked him out cold. Unconscious with a concussion and Chuck Bednarik staring down at him – this was not the best day for Gifford.

"This f***ing game is over. Sorry Frank"

What made it worse for Frank was the photograph of this scene, which was splashed across every paper in America the next morning. This crazy, epic photo of Chuck Bednarik doing his thing has now become an enduring piece of sports history. There are a million pieces of cool NFL sports memorabilia floating around but this piece is especially collectible and especially cool.

Chuck Bednarik, the last NFL player to play both ways, that icon of toughness, has signed a limited number of these photos. Along with his signature, he’s also inscribed his now-famous phrase “This f****ing game is over. Sorry Frank.”

This is a very limited edition photo so I would encourage anyone who is interested to act quickly. This signed photo has been officially licensed by the NFL.

Team Signed 2011 New York Giants Helmet

Its Super Bowl XLVI and the guys are in Indy getting helmets, jerseys and footballs signed by both the Giants and the Patriots players. Everything is going great. They're even getting items through security to both Manning and Brady. We start getting signing pics in our email and we're super happy about all the cool Super Bowl collectibles that we're going to add to our inventory.

My favorite football memorabilia items are team signed helmets, they're typically rare and they look ridiculously great when displayed in a fancy case. (The team signed jerseys are nice but you need a  lot of wall space for those big displays.) Anyway, these NFL team signed helmets are generally bought by corporations and dealers and its unusual when we sell one to an individual. Well, the week after the Super Bowl we get a layaway order for a Giants team signed helmet. This makes me happy and sad, happy to sell it, sad its going to leave my office!

I get the down payment (25%). Then I few weeks later I get another payment. A few weeks later I get an email saying they will be paying it off soon. Then nothing. Weeks go by. When the customer finally contacts me, its to kill the deal. This makes me happy and sad, happy I get to keep the helmet in my office, sad because I have to send the money back. hahaha

So now its summer and I have a 2011/2012, Super Bowl winning, NY Giants Team Signed Helmet for sale again. Its in excellent condition, never been publicly displayed, and comes with some signing pics and a Certificate of Authenticity.

Joe Namath Autographed Orange Bowl Seat

Hi everybody. OK, who remembers sitting out in the cheap seats in the west end zone of the Orange Bowl? C'mon, you remember, the seats that would make your back hurt for a week, even if you were young. They were great seats because the crowd out there was crazy, crazy in a fun way. It didn't matter who was playing, it was just fun.

Now image sitting out there in 1969 during Super Bowl lll. Even crazier. For those of us who are aware of such things, it was the beginning of the modern Super Bowl era. All because of one guy - Joe Namath, Broadway Joe, Joe Willie. In one brilliant wag of the tongue,  he famously predicted the NY Jets would beat the fearsome Baltimore Colts and forever change the way football would be played. And the Jets did just that. Considered one of the great football upsets of all time, Joe Namath was named MVP without ever throwing a touchdown pass in the game. A million years later Joe Namath is still ridiculously famous.

Todays item is an amazing little piece of history that might be interesting to only 1 person on the planet; a fan with great Orange bowl memories, a fan of legendary Super Bowls, and a fan of the ridiculously famous Joe Namath. If this is you, its your lucky day. If its not for you, this might be the greatest gift ever given. And by the way, this vintage Joe Namath signed orange bowl seat has been authenticated by the city of Miami. No kidding. Check it out:

Kentucky Wildcats Basketball

Congratulations to the UK Wildcats on their ridiculously successful season and their huge run through the playoffs. It was never close. I've been a UK fan since I went off to college in Lexington during the 69-70 school year. The Cats went 26-2 that year, Dan Issel was a four year superstar, and Adolf Rupp was near the end of one of the most insane basketball careers ever - way over 800 wins over 40 years of grinding the opposition down. Of course college basketball was different then, it was not unusual for UK to score over 100 points a game. Fast and furious. Which brings me to this years team, another fast a furious group that will most likely end up playing pro ball and leaving us with this year's sweet memory. This when being in the memorabilia business is a good thing lol, I get the pick of the cool autographed stuff. But I'm not keeping everything, check this out:
